Easily Diagnose Oral Conditions With Intraoral Cameras
At Fifth Avenue Dental Centre in Vancouver, we are proud to offer our patients the latest in digital imaging technology with intraoral cameras.
What are intraoral cameras, and how are they used?
Intraoral cameras take high-resolution images of the inside of your mouth. These images give our dentist an up close and detailed look at any oral condition you may have, allowing us to accurately diagnose and treat issues that may have otherwise been unnoticed.
What oral conditions can intraoral cameras detect?
Intraoral cameras detect cavities, cracked or chipped teeth, gum disease, plaque buildup, oral cancer, and more. They provide our dentist with the information needed to accurately diagnose your condition and recommend the best treatment plan for you.
What is involved in an intraoral camera exam?
The intraoral camera is a small hand-held device about the size of a pen. We will carefully position it in your mouth to capture pictures magnified up to 40 times their original size. You will be able to see these images on our chairside monitors. The camera is also outfitted with LED lighting, and the images produced are much more precise and detailed than traditional film X-rays. This allows us a better view of your teeth, gums, and other structures in the mouth.
What are the benefits of intraoral cameras?
Their incredibly detailed images allow our dentist to diagnose and treat any oral condition accurately. Additionally, intraoral cameras emit no radiation and help us detect cavities earlier than traditional film X-rays.
Who should consider an intraoral camera exam?
Anyone who wants to maintain good oral health should consider getting an intraoral camera exam at our office. This can help us detect oral health issues early and provide the best treatment options.
